Introduction

Following the encouraging response from South Africa Geospatial Forum 2011 which was a new initiative exclusively for South African geospatial to offer a platform to showcase their state-of-the-technologies and latest applications, Geospatial Media and Communications (formerly GIS Development) brings you again the same rich and dynamic representation of South Africa geospatial domain. We are pleased to host the 2nd Annual South African Conference and Exhibition on Geospatial Technologies and its Applications “South Africa Geospatial Forum 2012” in Johannesburg from 5-6th June,2012. This two-day conference which includes plenary, seminars, workshops, technical sessions, technology shows and exhibition, shall provide a unique platform exclusively to South Africans geospatial industry. This enable them to come together, explore the existing opportunities, deliberate on technologies, share knowledge and learn from varied experiences.

Africa- the region with one of the oldest as well as most diverse military histories in the world, is all geared up to house state of the art technologies which can aid and tighten the safety and security of the nations and make it a better and safer place to live. Considering the same, GeoIntelligence Africa an exclusive conference on defence shall be hosted in partnership with South African Engineer Formation, which will offer a unique platform to South African defence where relevant people representing various different verticals of defence can come together and put together their thinking caps.

This two day event aims to bring together a select group of the most influential people from the defence and security establishment and industry. It will also focus on the needs and requirements of the decision makers who directly and indirectly influence national security policy and procedures.
